The French Way with Vegetables....

I got a lovely surprise today - a book arrived in the post - completely unannounced (photo of book cover above) - a beautiful book first published in 1989 with 'over 200 delicious dishes from France' as the book says on the cover and having read it from cover to cover already, I would concur and look forward to trying some of the recipes out - perhaps when the butcher and his wife come for dinner next week and when we have our neighbours back round which will probably be the week after.

It seems that of all the vegetables we have, we are likely to have an abundance of courgettes (apparently everyone does and so they don't make a good gift!) and thankfully, there's a whole chapter on courgettes with such lovely recipes as courgette quiche and courgette gratin - mmmmmm!  In addition, you will recall our planting 120 leeks which we'll be harvesting at some point and again, there's lots of lovely leek recipes which I am keen to try.

So......this post is to thank whoever very generously sent us a copy of this book - it was such a lovely surprise and we both look forward to making the most of it - I shall begin diligently making the dishes and Tony and I will both diligently work our way through eating them!  Perhaps not the way to lose the excess we've gained over the past 2 weeks so I'll start with the vegetable dishes that don't contain cream in them!  So thank you thank you and BON APETIT! :)
